Volunteer Training
Throughout the Year
On the first Wednesday afternoon of each month (except December, January and February) from 1- 3 pm, new volunteers are invited to attend to complete Orientation and Induction.
This is a compulsory requirement. You will meet some of the team, explore our facilities and grounds and apply for your Blue Card for working with children (if you don't already have one). Please remember to wear sun-smart clothing and closed in footwear. It will take a minimum of 2 hours with more time spent if you wish to start some basic training.
No need to book in, just turn up at 1 pm !
Volunteer Training is a compulsory aspect of being a volunteer - whether you are a new volunteer or have been volunteering for years!
New Volunteers are provided with Orientation, Induction and Basic Training which is then followed by mentoring with an experienced volunteer. No matter what your experience level, we can train you to be safe and an asset to the programs.
Experienced volunteers are offered further training to enable them to expand their skills into new areas or to learn new techniques in assisting our riders based on coach workshop experiences. Every day there will be new things to learn!
There are also courses for Riding Coaches in CAD (Coaching Athletes with a Disability), starting with Volunteer Training, NSWRDA Coaching Traineeships Level 1 and 2, Coach Assessors and Educators.
If you would like to become a member of the SCRDA team, come along on one of our working mornings to view the programs in action and meet the rest of our volunteers. We can then commence the basics in Orientation, Induction and Basic Training in the afternoon of the first Wed of the month. Hope to see you soon!
